RESPECT - Every Employee Deserves Respect As a current employee of a company Chris understands the importance of balancing life and a career. One of the lesson’s Chris learned early on in life is an individual that respected will perform at a higher level than someone who feels unappreciated and disrespected. Often such issues have little to do with finances. ![]() Open Door Without Retribution Chris believes that everyone within our district serves as a type of educator to our children. Each individual is performing a responsibility that without our schools could not run properly. These citizens choose to work here because they care about the children. It can be a trying job and often they are treated in ways that are unacceptable. This cannot be tolerated. I have heard too many stories of employees be yelled at, spit at, and even assaulted by students. We can’t let our children ever think that treating others and in this case grown adults is acceptable. There is the perception that complaining about this will jeopardize their employment. We need to have a complete, functioning open door policy with no retribution to employees with grievances. ![]() Educational Privilege, Not A Right The reasons are multifaceted. A child that disrespects a teacher, bus driver, or custodial worker requires additional time, focus, and energy as well as additional financial resources. If I child miss behaves and it is documented this should be taken seriously. A child that misbehaves on a bus should loose the privileged of riding the bus. Let the parents provide transportation. We no longer have corporal punishment within our schools and I am not advocating for it to be reinstated I am suggesting that loss of privileges should be enforced. Every child we spend time dealing with like this means less time focusing on those that are there to learn. It could also mean a potential loss of a valued employee. Finding, training, and keeping individuals is costly and if they truly want to serve our children why would we not insist they be treated with the same dignity as we would expect. |
